Inspiration Behind the Movie

The film was inspired by classic King Kong films, particularly the 1933 original, but with a fresh take set during the Vietnam War era. Director Jordan Vogt-Roberts also drew inspiration from Apocalypse Now, using war movie aesthetics to give the film a unique tone. The story was developed to expand the “MonsterVerse,” setting the stage for Kong’s future showdown with Godzilla.
