Inspiration Behind the Movie
Infinity War was inspired by the Marvel Comics storyline The Infinity Gauntlet (1991), in which Thanos collects the Infinity Stones to wipe out half of all life. The Russo brothers also cited The Empire Strikes Back as an influence, aiming to create a similarly dark and unexpected ending.
You Might Not Know
- Thanos’ Snap Was Almost Different – Early drafts had the snap happening at the beginning of Endgame, but it was moved to Infinity War to maximize its impact.
- Tom Holland Improvised Spider-Man’s Death Scene – His heartbreaking “I don’t feel so good” line was not in the original script.
- Thor Almost Had a Different Arrival – The original plan was for Thor to show up in Wakanda alone, but it was changed to include Rocket and Groot for a bigger impact.
- Doctor Strange’s Secret Clue – Strange subtly raises a finger to Tony before disappearing, hinting at the “one” way they can win.
- Thanos Originally Had More Backstory – There were deleted scenes that would have explored Thanos’ past and his motivations even further.
