Inspiration Behind the Movie
Mean Girls was inspired by Rosalind Wiseman’s nonfiction book Queen Bees and Wannabes, which explores female cliques and social hierarchies in high school. Tina Fey adapted the book into a sharp, comedic script, drawing from her own high school experiences.

- The Movie Inspired a National Holiday – October 3rd is unofficially Mean Girls Day, thanks to the line “It’s October 3rd.”
